Mayor Daniels is the chairperson for the Gilbert Citizens for Public Safety Committee, which is the committee behind the Yes on question 1 campaign signs that you see all over town prompting tax paying voters to vote yes in favor of the $65 MILLION dollar bond that is on the current ballot. We think it is very interesting, curious even, that a sitting mayor would take a side on an issue like this to the extent of forming a committee to campaign for the bond and project.

What's even more interesting is the donor information. Two companies that have been given very large reimbursement incentives by the Town of Gilbert have donated the majority of the funds to Mayor Daniels committee. One of those companies even donated to Jenn Daniels campaign for mayor in 2016.

Take a look at the information we've provided below and see the trail of back scratching for yourselves. You can click on each document to go to the full document. All documents we're downloaded from the Town of Gilbert Clerk's section on the Town website.

Now let's take a look at the largest donor to the committee started by Mayor Daniels. Silent-Aire donated $10,000 to the Gilbert Citizens for Public Safety committee. Silent-Aire received over $800,000.00 in reimbursements from the Town of Gilbert.

So let's break this down.

  • Nationwide Mutual Insurance donated $1,000 to Jenn Daniels for Mayor in 2016.

  • June 21, 2018 Jenn Daniels as Mayor signs Resolution No. 3978 granting over $3 MILLION to be reimbursed to NRI-Rivulon (Nationwide Realty Investors - Rivulon, owned by Nationwide Mutual Insurance).

  • July 2, 2018 Jenn Daniels files organization documents for the Gilbert Citizens for Public Safety committee.

  • August 13, 2018 Nationwide Mutual Insurance Company donates $5,000 to the committee created by Jenn Daniels.

In other words, Daniels gets a donation for her campaign for Mayor. Mayor Daniels authorizes over $3 MILLION in taxpayer funds to donor. Mayor creates a committee to fight in favor of a bond that will increase taxes for Gilbert citizens. Mayor Daniels new committee gets a $5,000 donation from the company for that committee to convince voters to vote yes on the bond. So essentially the taxpayers are paying for a campaign to increase taxes.

The situation with Silent-Aire is nearly the same, only the amounts are the different with Silent-Aire giving a donation of $10,000.

CBDG Gilbert has also given a donation of $1,500 and has business dealings with the town but due to time restraints and the upcoming vote we will have to add that information later.

We urge all Gilbert citizens to ask questions of Gilbert Town Staff and elected officials so that we the people know exactly what is happening with our tax dollars.

Thank you,

We're going to hear comments like the one below in defense of what's going on, but the transactions are in the documents in black and white. Whatever the reasoning or excuses are the fact still remains that these companies are getting taxpayer dollars and then turning it around and giving it to causes they support, for whatever reason.

It's not acceptable.
